Product Assessed: – Heated and cold water piping systems (PE-RT)
The WaterMark Administration advises it has reviewed a risk assessment submitted for the above mentioned product. The product is polyethylene of raised temperature resistance (PE-RT) pipe and fittings
The WaterMark Administration verifies that the risk assessment for this product has identified risks requiring mitigation through the WaterMark Certification Scheme.
The Risk Assessment identified the overall risk rating being medium for the nominated health and safety, economic or wastage of water consequences incidences. In accordance with the Manual for the WaterMark Certification Scheme, Appendix 3, Table D, any product with an overall risk rating of medium requires WaterMark Certification.
The ABCB believes that given the current issues with certain plastic type piping and fittings that Standards Australia Committee (PL006) undertake a new project to develop an appropriate specification. By Standards Australia undertaking this project it would be in keeping with the precedence already set with multi-layer pipes (AS4176) and PE-X fittings (AS/NZS 2537).
In developing a product specification published by a third party standards writing body Approved WaterMark Conformity Assessment Bodies shall undertake this procedure in accordance with the Manual for the WaterMark Certification, Appendix 4, Section 1.
